About Attorney Ryan Holloway

Early Life and Education

Ryan Holloway, a criminal defense attorney based in Greenville, SC, was born in Monroe, Louisiana, and grew up across the Ouachita River in West Monroe. He spent his early years in New Orleans and East Brewton, Alabama, before his family settled back in West Monroe when he was nine. A 1995 honors graduate of West Monroe High School, Ryan entered Louisiana Tech University, where he first became intrigued by the American justice system during the O.J. Simpson trial, a landmark event that shaped his perspective on the media's role in legal cases.

His academic journey led him to switch from mechanical engineering to political science/pre-law, and he eventually transferred to the University of Louisiana-Monroe, following family tradition. Ryan interned with the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Monroe, signaling his future as a prosecutor. After graduating summa cum laude in 1999, he worked for CenturyTel (later CenturyLink) while preparing for law school. He entered the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2000, graduating in 2003, and soon after moved to South Carolina, where he began his career as a prosecutor.
